On Thursday 1 September 2016, CEJA, the European Council of Young Farmers, appointed Alessia Musumarra as the new Secretary General of the organisation. With over seven years of professional experience working in the Brussels Representative Office of the Italian Confederation of Farmers as a policy officer, Ms. Musumarra has gained a deep knowledge on an extensive range of agricultural dossiers. Among these, young farmers’ policies as well as CEJA activities were always major focus areas of her work. Now managing the CEJA office in Brussels, thanks to her considerable experience, Ms. Musumarra, alongside the CEJA Presidency and CEJA Member Organisations, will continue the important work that CEJA has already achieved and work towards ensuring that the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) post-2020 reflects the needs of European young farmers.

CEJA President Alan Jagoe said of the appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Alessia Musumarra to CEJA. Alessia brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role of CEJA Secretary General, and with her extensive knowledge of agriculture will allow CEJA to build upon our existing platform to better the opportunities for European young farmers.”
